Bears Fall to In-State Rivals

Bears Fall to In-State Rivals

Saturday November 9, 2019: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

For the second straight day a Bears sluggish start and second half rally would come up short, as the Bossier Parish Cavaliers would earn the 83 to 68 victory tonight, in day two of the BRCC Bear Classic.

The Cavaliers would score the first seven points of the game to take the early lead over the Bears.  With 15:27 the Bears finally got on the board with a jump shot by Darren Johnson.  The Bears would then go on a mini run outscoring the Cavs 7 to 4, to close the Cavs lead to 11 to 7 with 11:27, to go in the half.  This would be the closest the Bears would get all night.  The Cavs then went on a 28 to 15 run to end the first half and take a 41 to 22 lead into the locker room.

The Bears came out of the locker room and went on a small 10 to 4 run, in first four minutes, to close the Cavs lead to 45 to 31.  Bossier Parish would grow their lead to 17 points, 70 to 53 with 6 minutes to play.  Baton Rouge would end up outscoring Bossier Parish, in the second half, 46 to 42 but it was not enough as the Cavaliers defeat the Bears 83 to 68.

The Bears struggled again from the free throw line (15-25) and had their issues with turnovers throughout the whole game.

Bossier Parish had four athletes in double figures.  They were led by Joshua Davis with 18 points. Baton Rouge was led by Sophomore Guard Javon Brazile who had 15 points.

Bossier Parish improves to 3-0 while Baton Rouge falls to 1-3 on the very young season.
