Bears win in OT

Baton Rouge holds on to a 100 to 96 overtime victory over the Delgado Dolphins, tonight in the Alario Center. 

Baton Rouge held a 4 point lead at the half; 42 to 38. Delgado outscored Baton Rouge 49 to 45, in the second half, to tie the game at 87, at the end of regulation.  Delgado's Louis Blake would tie the game at 87 with two free throws. Bear's Dajerone Barber Jr. would hit a three pointer with 30 seconds left, in over time, to give the Bears a two point advantage. BRCC outscored Delgado 13 to 9, in overtime, to take the 100 to 96 victory.

The Bears' bench outscored the Dolphins' bench 29 to 4.  BRCC also had 50 points in the paint compared to 34 for the Dolphins.

The Bears were led by an outstanding performance by Eric Matthews with a double double; 25 points and 20 rebounds.  Kai Morgan led the Dolphins with 35 points.

With the win, the Bears improve to 5-14 and 3-2 in conference play. Delgado falls to 6-13 and 3-2 in conference play.

 

Bears Highlights:

Eric Matthews led the Bears with 25 points and 20 rebounds

Terrance Dodson added 17 points and 15 rebounds

Terry Johnson scored 14 points with 5 rebounds

 

The Bears will be back in action this Saturday February 16 at 4 pm as they take on LCCAC opponent Southern Shreveport Jags in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
