Trojans Defeat Bears at Home

The Bears were unable to kick off the holiday rust this afternoon versus the Mississippi Delta Trojans.  The Bears fall to the Trojans, by the final score of, 68 to 63.

Baton Rouge came out of the gates firing on all cylinders to take a 12 to 5 lead over the Trojans with 10 minutes, to go in the half.  The Trojans fired back to take a three point lead with one minute to go.   The Bears fought back to take a one point advantage, heading in to the break, at 26 to 25.

Mississippi Delta Trojans tied the game up at 27, and then went on to start building their lead.  The Trojans largest lead, in the second half, was nine points.  The Bears would get as close as five points but could not overcome their offensive woes.  Baton Rouge shot 15 for 26 from the free throw line. In the second half, Baton Rouge could not find their rhythm on the offensive end and Mississippi Delta seemed to be in sync outscoring Baton Rouge 43 to 37, in the second half. The Trojans were 14 for 19 from the free throw line.

Mississippi Delta was led in scoring by Brandon Kimble with 21 points.  They had 4 players in double figures.  Baton Rouge was led by freshman forward Prince Campbell with 26 points. The Bears had two players in double figures.

Mississippi Delta improves to 5-6 while Baton Rouge falls to 1-11 on the year.

 

Bears Highlights:

Prince Campbell led the Bears with 26 points.

Brenden Vessel added 12 points.

Eric Matthews scored 9 points.

 

The Bears will be back in action this Saturday January 3 versus Southwest Mississippi Bears.  Tip is set for 4 pm in the Bonne Santé Wellness Center on the BRCC Midcity Campus.  This will be a doubleheader with the Lady Bears as they tip at 2 pm.
