Bears win! Bears win! BRCC defeats Lamar State Port Arthur 58 to 56.  For the fourth game in a row, the Bears started the game sluggish and were down 11 to 0 with 16:52 remaining, in the first half.  The Bears began chipping away at the Seahawks lead with some great defensive pressure, hot shooting off the bench and some clutch rebounds. At the five minute mark the Bears only trailed by 2; 24 to 22.  BRCC took the lead with 1 minutes remaining on a three pointer by Eric Matthews. At the half, the Bears held a 30 to 27 lead over the Seahawks.

At the start of the second half, the Bears went on a 7 to 2 run to extend their lead to 37 to 29. The Seahawks did not lie down and continued to fight back. They closed the gap to four; 40 to 36 with 13 minutes remaining.  With eight minutes remaining,  BRCC held a one point lead, 47 to 46 over Lamar St. Port Arthur.  The Seahawks took the the lead with a steal and a layup to go ahead 48 to 47.  It was a back and forth affair for the last six minutes of the ball game.  The game was tied three times during that time period.  BRCC used some full court pressure, to take Lamar State out of their rhythm and forced some turnovers, in which,  they turned into transition baskets . Despite the turnovers, the Seahawks remained close till the end when Javon Brazile made one of two free throws to seal the 58 to 56 victory.

BRCC's big men came alive in tonight's game. The combination of Terrance Dodson, Prince Campbell and Ronald Cammack, Jr., gave the Bears a toughness and forceful presence in the middle that they had been missing the last three games.  They controlled the paint and got key rebounds that help push the Bears out in transition which got their offense jumped started.

Lamar St. Port Arthur shot 70 % from the free throw line, while BRCC struggles continued, as they shot 56%.

Terrance Minor led the Seahawks in scoring with 16 points.  He was the only Seahawk player in double figures.

BRCC improves to 1-3 while Lamar St Port Arthur falls to 3-3 on the season.

Side Note: This victory is the first collegiate victory for  Bears first year Head Coach Don Green.
