Donald R. Green has joined Baton Rouge Community College Athletics as the Head Coach of the Men's Basketball team. He comes to BRCC from Parkview Baptist High School where he had a steady record of victories and coaching accolades. Throughout his career, Coach Green has an overall record of 68 percent with 25 playoff appearances, seven National Christian Schools Championships and six state championships. His coaching has yielded 14 Division 1 players, three state MVPs, 15 All-State players and 25 All-District players.

"Coach Donald Green is a nationally-renowned basketball coach with many accolades to his name. His popularity and notability in the City of Baton Rouge alone brings so much promise to BRCC's athletic department, our student athletes, and future recruits," said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib. "Coach Green seeks to advance our program in such a way that it'll certainly encourage those students and potential students who have athletic talent, but hadn't yet considered pursuing education to realize not only their physical strengths, but to rise to academic challenges as well."

Coach Green has won several coaching awards. He is a five-time District Coach of the Year, four-time State Coach of the Year, and has received the Letterman award for his work with Louisiana State University's Men's Basketball team. He is an avid volunteer who has provided pro-bono services to intramural teams in Baton Rouge. He serves on BREC's Board of Directors and is a past YMCA of Baton Rouge Board Member. Coach Green also has acting credits to his name, most notably appearing as the opposing coach in the 2012 Disney film "Thunderstruck," starring Kevin Durant and Jim Belushi.

"We're happy to have Coach Green bring his impeccable knowledge of basketball to BRCC," said Philip L. Smith, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement. "We are certainly looking forward to another amazing season for our Men's Basketball team and to all that is to come for these talented young men under Coach Green's tutelage."

BRCC's Men's Basketball team has a history of championship appearances and wins. Last season, the team finished by competing in the Region #23 Tournament after defeating the Southern University - Shreveport Jags 77 to 56 to claim the Louisiana Community College Athletic Conference Title. This season the team will face several area community and junior colleges, including Louisiana State University Eunice and Southern University Shreveport.
