BRCC Bears opened the 2017-2018 season Wednesday night against  LSUA JV Generals in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.  BRCC won in nail biting fashion 61 to 60 over the Generals. The Bears came out strong in the first half and built up a twenty point lead before the Generals mounted a rally, in the second half.   The halftime score was Bears  33  Generals 22 .  Javier Roper, a sophomore guard from Ruston, Louisiana, led the bears in scoring with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Coach Wilson, Head Men's Basketball Coach, was very impressed with Mr. Roper's performance on the night.  He was very proud of his team and the way they fought till the end and never gave up.  Coach Wilson said "its still early, and his kids were a bit nervous being the first game of the season but they learned a lot from tonight's game and they have room for improvement with a long season ahead."

BRCC (1-0) will return to action on Saturday at 4:00 pm when the Bears host Bossier Parish Community College.  The Lady Bears will open their season on Friday at 7:30 pm as they host Clarendon, in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center, as part of the Lady Bears Basketball Classic.
