Title: Assistant Baseball Coach

Nick Studdard begins his first season with the Baton Rouge Community College Bears, as an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator. Studdard comes to Baton Rouge after spending one season at Bowling Green State University, a Division I program in Bowling Green, OH.

While with the Bowling Green State University Falcons, Studdard worked alongside the catchers as well as assisting with the hitters. Following the season, the Orange and Brown had a pair of All-Americans. Kyle Gurney was named CSC Academic All-America, becoming just the second player in program history to receive the recognition multiple times. DJ Newman earned Freshman All-America honors from both Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA.


Before arriving in Bowling Green, Studdard served as an undergraduate assistant coach from January 2020 to June 2022 at Southern University and A&M College under Head Coach Kerrick Jackson and then Head Coach Chris Crenshaw. His role saw him coach the catchers and assist hitters, in addition to assisting with daily clubhouse activities and other program needs. While with Southern University, Studdard helped guide them to a 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship-winning season. Also in 2021, Southern progressed to the Austin Regional in the NCAA Tournament while Taj Porter was selected to the All-SWAC second team as a catcher under Studdard's tutelage. In 2022, Studdard helped guide SU to a second SWAC Championship Final. Southern finished the 2022 season with an 27-31 overall record and was 21-9 SWAC conference play.

In addition to being an assistant coach, Studdard will begin his fifth season coaching in the Northwoods League with the St. Cloud Rox in the summer of 2024. Studdard will be entering his second summer as the field manager for the Rox. He was named the Field Manager for the Rox in 2023. Previously he was the Hitting/Catching Coach for the Rox and has had great success with the team. Studdard has been a part of three historic seasons with the Rox, winning 50 games in back-to-back seasons, first time in Northwoods League history that has happened. He has also been part of two Great Plains Champion teams that have hosted three Northwood League Championships.  Studdard has been selected for the Great Plains All-Star Coaching Staff in back-to-back years (2021 and 2022). 

Studdard started his collegiate playing career as a catcher at Southern University from 2016-2017. He graduated from Southern University in December of 2022, earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) in Project Management. Studdard graduated from Grace King High School in Metairie, Louisiana in May of 2016.

He is the son of Dan and Cynthia Studdard. His siblings are Jonathan, Danielle, Erin, and Emily. Studdard was born in Plano, TX and currently resides in Prairieville, LA.
