Baton Rouge Community College Baseball  team will participate the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XXIII Division I Baseball Tournament this weekend, Thursday May 2 through Saturday May 4, hosted by  Delgado Community College.The Region XXIII tournament is a double-elimination format and games will be played at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch Rooney Stadium, home of the Delgado Dolphins Baseball team. The three team regional features Delgado Community College Dolphins, Baton Rouge Community College Bears, and Nunez Community College Pelicans.

Teams Preview Information 

2024 Season Records:

  • Baton Rouge: 15-37, 4-8
  • Delgado: 35-14, 10-2
  • Nunez: 23-22, 4-8

All-Time Series Records:

  • Delgado leads the all time series over Baton Rouge with 92 wins and 36 losses. The last time these two teams met was on April 21, 2024 when the Bears defeated the Dolphins 10-6 at Pete Goldsby Field.
  • Baton Rouge leads the all time series over Nunez with 22 wins and 14 losses.  The last time these two teams met was on April 27, 2024 when the Bears defeated the Pelicans 12-8 at Noel Suarez Stadium in Chalmette.
  • Delgado leads the all time series over Nunez with 36 wins and 3 loss. The last time these two teams met was April 14, 2024 when the Dolphins defeated the Pelicans 7-1 at Kirsch Rooney Stadium.

Day 1 (Thursday May 2, 2024)

Game 1     12:00     Nunez Community College (#2 seed) vs. Baton Rouge Community College (#3 seed)

Game 2     3:30       Baton Rouge Community College (#3 seed) vs. Delgado Community College (#1 seed)

Game 3     7:00       Nunez CommunityCollege (#2 seed) vs. Delgado Community College (#1 seed)


Day 2 (Friday May 3, 2024)

Scenario #1 - If one team is 0-2, they are eliminated

 

Game 4     2:00         1-1 team vs. 2-0 team If 2-0 team wins, they are champions

 

Scenario #2- If all teams are 1-1 following the 1st day, the #1 seed will receive the bye to Game 5

Game 4     2:00         #2 vs. #3

 

Day 3 (Saturday May 4,2024)

Scenario #1 

Game 5     2:00         If both teams are 2-1

Scenario #2

Game 5     2:00         Winner of Game 4 vs. #1 seed

 

Miscellaneous Game Information:

All games are 9 innings with NJCAA Run-Rule applicable except in Championship Game. All Championship Games are 9 innings. In the event of rain postponements, no team will be required to play more than 2 games on a single day. All NJCAA Handbook Tournament Rules in Section 5 will be followed. Each game will have no less than three  umpires. Updates and weather information will be posted on delgadoathletics.com and Delgado Athletics' social media channels.

The Region XXIII champion and runner up will advance to the South District Championship on May 8-12 in Oxford, Alabama.
