The Baton Rouge Bears finished their Alexandria swing with a game against the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats JV at Billy Allgood Field. The Bears used a solid pitching performance by John Touchet, Braden McLin and Jack Cowan as they would combine to pitch a 2 hit shutout. The Bears defeated the Wildcats 6-0.
The Bears would get on the board first with a run in the second inning. Jackson Martin would lead off the inning with a single to right field, advance to second on a pass ball, move over to third on a Isaac Leger ground out and he would score on a Ryan Richard ground out.
Baton Rouge would add to their lead with two runs in the third inning;3-0. Lane Patin would lead off the inning by being hit by a pitch. Braden Corkern would follow with a single to left field. Tanner Hornback would hit a single to left field driving in Patin. Matthew Reinholtz would lay down a sacrifice bunt scoring Corkern for the Bears second run of the frame.
The Bears would stay hot at the plate as they would tact on two more runs in the fifth inning to grab a 5-0 lead over the Wildcats. Tanner Hornback would single and Matthew Reinholtz would be hit by a pitch and they would both score on a Collin a Dupre single to left field.
Baton Rouge would add an insurance run,in the sixth inning, when Isaac Leger would lead off the inning with a walk and he would score on a Lain Patin double.
The Bears defeated the Wildcats 6-0 in their final tune up before a conference weekend against the Delgado Dolphins.
John Touchet started on the mound for the Bears and was credited with the victory. JT pitched 3 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 3.Braden McLin (2 innings) and Jack Cowan (2 innings) pitched in relief for the Bears. The Bears combined to strikeout 10 Wildcats in the ball game while only walking 2.
The Bears outhit the Wildcats 9 to 2. Both teams committed one error in the ballgame.
Bears Highlights
Tanner Hornback went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI.
Matthew Reinholtz went 1 for 1 with 1 run and 1 RBI.
Shea Pitre went 1 for 1.
Collin Dupre went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Jackson Martin went 1 for 3 with 1 run.
Lane Patin went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 RBI.
Braden Corkern went 1 for 3 with 1 run.
With the victory the Bears improved to 12-34 on the season.
The Bears will host Conference Opponents the Delgado Dolphins this weekend on Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21 in a three game weekend series at Pete Goldsby Field.
