Bears defeat LSUA Generals JV

The Baton Rouge Bears started their twin bill, in the Alexandria area, this afternoon against LSUA Generals JV at Generals Field.  The Bears were hot at the plate and aggressive on the base path (8 stolen bases) as they defeat the Generals 10-1.

The Bears would get on the score board first with two runs, in the first inning. Collin Dupre and Jackson Martin would draw back to back walks. Braden McLin would follow with a triple to right field driving in Dupre and Martin for the Bears first runs of the game. The Generals would get their only run of the ballgame,in the bottom of the first inning,  when they would get a triple from Trahan and he would score on a ground out by Doucet.

The Bears would tact on an other run in the second inning when Seth Fontenot would hit a solo homer to left field. After two innings the Bears led the Generals 3-1. 

Baton Rouge would drive in two more runs, in the fifth inning. Tanner Hornback would lead off the inning with a single to centerfield then he would proceed to steal second. Matthew Reinholtz would follow with a walk. Jackson Martin would then single to centerfield driving in Hornback. The Bears would pull off a double steal with Reinholtz and Martin then Reinholtz would score on a sacrifice fly by Braden McLin. After five innings, the Bears led 5-1.

The Bears would stay hot at the plate as they would score three more runs, in the sixth inning, to increase their lead to 8-1. Isaac Leger would lead off the inning with a double to right field. Ryan Richard would draw a walk and Seth Fontenot would single to centerfield to load the bases with Bears. Lain Patin would hit a single to right field driving in Leger and Richard. Tanner Hornback would hit a sac fly scoring Fontenot from third.

The Bears would tact on two more runs, in the top of the eighth inning, to secure the 10-1 victory over the LSUA Generals JV team.

The Bears got a solid pitching performance from Cade Robin, Caden Durand and Jackson Martin as they combined to allow only one run while striking out nine Generals on the day.

Cade Robin started on the mound for the Bears and earned the victory. Robin pitched 4 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 4. Caiden Durand (3 innings) and Jackson Martin (2 innings) pitched in relief for the Bears.

Baton Rouge outhit LSUA 9 to 5. The Generals committed one error in the ballgame.

Bears Highlights:

Tanner Hornback went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

Matthew Reinholtz had 1 run, 1 RBI and 3 BB.

Jackson Martin went 1 for 4 with 1 run, 1 BB and 1 RBI.

Braden McLin went 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs, and 1 triple.

Isaac Leger went 1 for 3 with 1 BB and 1 Run.

Brady Neyland went 1 for 1 with 1 run.

Seth Fontenot went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, 1 RBI and 1 homer.

Lane Patin went 2 for 4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs.

 

With the victory the Bears improved to 11-34 on the season.

 

The Bears will travel down to Pineville to take on the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats JV this evening at 6 pm at Billy Allgood Field.
