Bears Fall to #1 East Central in Decatur

The Baton Rouge Bears traveled to Decatur Mississippi this afternoon to take on the #1 East Central Warriors at Clark/Gay Baseball Complex. The Bears could not control the high powered offense of the Warriors thus falling 13-3, in an eight innings run rule. 

The Warriors would get on the board first with four runs, in the bottom of the first inning, to take the early 4-0 advantage over the Bears.

The Warriors would add to their lead with a solo homer by L. Gilbert, in the bottom of the fourth inning;5-0. 

East Central would add two runs to their lead, in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead over the Bears to 7-0. 

East Central's M Little would hit a three run homer to left field to increase the Warriors lead over the Bears to 10-0. 

With their backs against the wall and two outs, in the top of the seventh inning, the Bears would scratch across three run to stay alive.  Barrett Hebert would hit a double to left field, and Aiden Machado would draw a walk. Braden McLin would hit a bloop single scoring Brady Neyland, who pinch ran for Hebert, for the Bear's first run of the game.  Shea Pitre would hit a double to right field scoring Machado and McLin. The Bears still trailed the Warriors 10-3. 

The Warriors would add a run, in the bottom of the seventh,  to increase their lead over the Bears to 11-3. 

The Warriors would plate two runs, in the bottom of the eighth inning, to secure the 13 to 3 run rule victory over the Bears. 

Cade Robin started on the mound for the Bears and took the loss. Robin pitched 4.1 innings slowing 7 runs on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5. Caden Durnad (0.2 innings ), Hunter Lail (0.2 innings), Ethan Quebodeaux (1.1 innings) and Briggs Ardoin (0.0 innings)  pitched in relief for the Bears. C. Blingsley started on the mound for the Warriors and earned the victory. He pitched 4 innings allowing 0 runs on 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. 

East Central outhit Baton Rouge 15 to 7. The Bears committed one error in the ballgame. 

 

Bears Game Highlights

Jackson Martin went 2 for 3 with 1 BB. 

Ryan Richard went 2 for 4. 

Matthew Reinholtz had 1 BB. 

Barrett Hebert went 1 for 1 with a double. 

Braden McLin went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1RBI. 

Shea Pitre went 1 for 1 with a double and 2 RBIs. 

Aiden Machado had 1 BB and 1 run. 

With the loss the Bears fell to 3-28 on the season while the Warriors improved to 28-0 on the season. 

The Bears will be back in action this Monday March 18 as they travel to Pineville Louisiana to take on the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats in a doubleheader starting at 3 pm.
