Bears drop a heartbreaker in series finale to the Dolphins

The Baton Rouge Bears and the Delgado Dolphins concluded their three game conference series this afternoon at Kirsch Rooney Stadium in New Orleans. This afternoon's game was a nail bitter, in which, Baton Rouge would take an early lead and watch it disappear when the Dolphins would tie the game in the ninth and walk it off in the tenth to sweep the series against the Bears. Delgado defeats Baton Rouge 4-3.

The Baton Rouge Bears would get on the board first with two runs, in the second inning. Ethan Menard would double to centerfield and score on a Mason Long single for the Bears first run of the game. Jonas LeBourgeois would hit an infield single scoring Long for the second run of the frame for the Bears. The Dolphins would get a run back, in the bottom of the frame, via solo homer by Will Spears but they still trailed the Bears 2-1 after two innings. The Bears would scratch across a run, in the fifth inning, when Nick Carriere would walk, steal second and score on a Braxton Gallet single to left field. Delgado would score a run, in the sixth inning, but the Bears still led 3-2. The Dolphins would push across a run, in the bottom of the ninth, to tie the game at three to force extra innings. The Bears would put two runners on, in top of the tenth, when Blaise Foote would lead off with a single to right field and Elliot Hebert was intentionally walked but both runners would be stranded. The Dolphins would load the bases, in the bottom of the tenth, and J. Kaufman would hit an infield single driving home the winning run for Dolphins. Delgado defeats Baton Rouge 4-3, in ten innings.

Kaile Levatino earned the victory for the Dolphins. He pitched two-thirds inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. Teddy Webb started on the mound for the Bears. Teddy pitched six and one-third innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 8. Caden Akana and John Shahrdar pitched in relief for the Bears. John Shahrdar was credited with the loss for the Bears. John pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 1.

Baton Rouge outhit Delgado 10 to 7. Baton Rouge committed two errors compared to one for Delgado.

Braxton Gallet went 1 for 5 with 1 RBI

With the victory the Dolphins improve to 25-9,6-0 in conference while the Bears fall to 19-24, 0-3 in conference play.

The Bears will return to action this Saturday April 9 and Sunday April 10 when they face conference opponents the Nunez Pelicans at Pete Goldsby. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2 pm and the series will conclude with a single 3 pm game on Sunday.
