Bears Baseball swept by Indian Hills Warriors

The Baton Rouge Bears and the Indian Hills Warriors opened a four-game series this morning at Southeastern University in Hammond.  The Warriors would sweep the day with a 6-1 and a 3-0 victory over the Bears.

Game one 

The Bears would tie the game, in the fourth inning, but they could not control the high powered offensive attack of the Warriors as the Indian Hills would win game one 6-1.

Indian Hills would get on the board first with a run, in the third inning. Baton Rouge would tie the game, in the fourth inning, when Braxton Gallet would hit an RBI double to right field. The Warriors would retake the lead with three runs, in the fifth inning. The Warriors would add two more runs to their lead, in the sixth inning, to seal the 6-1 game one victory. The Bears struggled at the plate with only 3 hits and 9 striking outs.

Jack Nelson earned the victory for the Warriors. He pitched five innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7. Ethan Prescott took the loss for the Bears. He pitched five and a third innings allowing 6 runs on 9 hits while striking out 1.  John Shahrdar and Alex Norris pitched in relief for the. Bears.

Indian Hills outhit Baton Rouge 10 to 3. Baton Rouge committed 3 errors in the ballgame.

Game one Bears Highlights 

Ethan Menard went 1 for 3

Blaise Foote went 1 for 2 with 1 run

Braxton Gallet went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

 

Game Two

Game two of this series saw a lot of good pitching and very few runs. Indian Hills would scratch across three runs, in the fourth inning, to earn the 3-0 game two victory.  Both schools' pitching staff combined to strike out 13 batters and only allowed a combined 9 hits in the game. 

Greg Campos earned the victory for the Warriors. He pitched five innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 3. Gavin Green started on the mound for the Bears and took the loss. Gavin pitched seven innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 6.

Indian Hills outhit Baton Rouge 6 to 3. Baton Rouge committed one error in the ballgame.

 

Game Two Bears Highlights:

Lane Hutchinson went 1 for3

Tristan Frederick went 1 for 3

Nick Carriere went 1 for 2

 

With the pair of victories, the Indian Hill Warriors improve to 5-2, while the Baton Rouge Bears fall to 14-18 on the season.

 

These two team will conclude the four-game series on Saturday March 12 with a 1 pm doubleheader at Pete Goldsby Field.
