Bears pitching trio shutouts the LSUA Generals

The Baton Rouge Bears drove up I-49 to Alexandria to take on the LSUA Generals JV at Holy Savior Menard Central High School this afternoon. A trio of Bear's pitchers would shutout the Generals enroute to a 13-0, eight inning victory.

The Bears would jump out to an early five run lead after three innings. In the third, the Bears would score their first two runs of the game off a double to left field by Alex Guilbeau. Nick Carriere would hit a sac fly scoring Gage Breithaupt, who reached on a hit by pitch.  Braden Keen would double to left field driving in another Bears run. Jonas LeBourgeois would hit an infield single scoring Keen. The Bears would add a run in the fifth, off an RBI triple by Trey Webb  to right field. In the sixth inning the Bears would scratch across another run to take a 7-0 lead. In the seventh inning, Ethan Menard would lead off with a double and score on a pass ball for the Bears eighth run of the game. The Bears would seal the shutout victory with five runs in the eighth inning. The eighth inning was highlighted by a Caden Akana single,a William Dunn double, a sac fly by Elliot Hebert and rbi ground out by Grant Landry.  John Shahrdar would shut down the Generals, in the eighth, to secure the Bears 13-0 shutout run rule victory.

Slade Zeppuhar started on the mound for the Bears and earned the victory. Slade pitched six innings allowing 0 runs on 5 hits while striking out 8. Luke Evans and John Shahrdar each pitch one inning of scoreless baseball for the Bears. The Bears pitching trio only walked one General.  Dardar took the loss for the Generals. He pitched two and two-third innings allowing 5 runs on 3 hits while walking 5 and striking out 2.

Baton Rouge outhit LSUA 11 to 8. LSUA commuted 2 errors in the ball game.

Trey Webb went 2 for 2 with 1 BB and 1 RBI 

Elliot Hebert had 1 BB and 1 RBI 

Grant Landry had 1 BB and 1 RBI 

Alex Guilbeau went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 2 RBIs

Britt Jordan  went 1 for 2

Nick Carriere went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Zach Martin has 2 BB and 2 runs

Braden Keen went 1 for 3 with 1 run, 1BB and 1 RBI 

Caden Akana went 1 for 1 with 1 run

Jonas LeBourgeois went 1 for 1 with 1 run

Ethan Menard went 1 for 1 with 2 runs

William Dunn went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 2 RBIs

With the victory the Bears improve to 14-14 on the season.

 

The Bears will return to action this Wednesday March 9 as they take on Jones College Bobcats in a doubleheader starting at 3 pm at Pete Goldsby Field.
