Teddy Webb throws a shutout to defeat the Lake Land Lakers 10-0

The Baton Rouge Bears and the Lake Land Lakers played in today's first game of the Bears doubleheader at East Central. The Bears would jump to an early lead and Teddy Webb would shut down the Lakers for the 10-0 five inning victory.

The Bears would get on the board with a run, in the first inning. Braden Keen would reach on an error and score on a Lane Hutchinson's sac fly. The Bears would add three runs to their lead, in the second inning.  Tristan Frederick would lead off the inning with a double to left field. Frederick would steal third and score on a Laker's wild pitch. Trey Webb, who reached by walking, would steal second and score on another Laker's error.  Braden Keen would follow with a single to left field and he would score on a double by Ethan Menard. After two innings, the Bears led 4-0. In the third, the Bears would add another run when Lane Hutchison would lead off with a double and he would score on a Mason Long single to right field. In the fourth inning, the Lakers would finally get some runners on the bases (Webb had sat down 9 straight batters) but the Bears would get out of the inning without giving up a run. The Bears would score 5 runs, in the fifth inning, to take a commanding 10-0 lead. Again in the fifth inning, the Lakers would put runners on the bases but the Bears defense would back up Webb and hold the Lakers scoreless thus clinching the 10-0 five inning victory.

Teddy Webb throws a five-inning shutout for the victory.  Teddy allowed only 2 hits while striking out 7. Austin Baker took the loss for the Lakers. He pitched three innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits while striking out 3.

Baton Rouge outhit Lake Land 6 to 2. Lake Land committed 4 errors in the ball game.

Bears Game Highlights

Braden Keen went 1 for 2 with 3 runs

Ethan Menard went 2 for 4 and 3 RBIs

Lane Hutchinson went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1RBI

Mason Long 1 for 2 with 1 RBI

Tristan Frederick 1 for 3 with 2 runs

Nick Carriere had 1 run and 1 RBI

Trey Webb had 2 runs

 

With the victory the Bears improve to 10-10, while the Lakers fall to 7-8 on the season.

 

The Bears will be back in action later this afternoon as they take on the host school East Central Community College at Clark/Gay Baseball Complex.
