Baseball: Bossier City, LA

Baton Rouge Bears would continue their hot hitting ,in game two, today versus the Centenary College JV Gents.  The Bears would defeat the Gents 5 to 1.

The Bears would score first with a run in the first inning. Deionte Norris would single to the third baseman scoring, Carriere, who reached on a walk.  The Bears would put up a crocked number in the second inning.  They would score four runs.  The Bears took advantage of some inconsistent pitching ,fielding errors and back-to-back singles by Karius Joseph and Deionte Norris to score the four runs.  Unfortunately for the Bears that would be all the runs they would score but it was enough to defeat the Gents.  The Bears pitching staff of Blaise Foote, Dane Wise and Sean Burkhead held the Gents scoreless. The Gents would get on the board with a run, in the sixth inning, off Bear's relief pitcher DeOnte' Dotson.

Blaise Foote started on the mound for the Bears and earned the victory. Blaise  pitched three innings, allowing 0 runs on 1 hit. Dane Wise, Sean Burkhead and DeOnte' Dotson pitched in relief for the Bears. Andy Purpura took the loss for the Gents. He pitched two innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits while striking out 1.

 Baton Rouge out hit Centenary 7 to 3. The Gents committed 3 errors to 1 for the Bears in the ball game.

Bears Game Highlights:

William Veillon had 1 Run and 1RBI.

Karius Joseph went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

Deionte Norris went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs.

Jonas LeBourgeois went 2 for 3.

Jake Messina went 1 for 1.

With the victory the Bears improve to 15-13 on the season.

Next up for the Bears will be the start of conference on Wednesday March 24, 2021 at home versus the Delgado Dolphins. Game times are 4 & 7 pm.
