Record Setting Day helps Bears defeat the Cavs 14 to 3

The Baton Rouge Bears had their offense firing all on cylinders this afternoon at BPCC Field. The Bears hit five home runs enroute to the 14 to 3, five inning run rule victory over the Bossier Parish Cavs.

The Bears would get on the board first via a solo homer by Sophomore Outfielder William Veillon to left field. After one, the Bears led 1 to 0. The Bears would erupt for 7 runs, in the second inning. The scoring would begin  when Freshman Lane Hutchinson would hit a two-run homer to centerfield. Cody Crifasi would follow up with a double to right field and then he would be driving home by a Nathan Carriere homer to left field. William Veillon would follow up with another homer to left field. Finally, catcher Parker Autry would hit a two-run homer to centerfield. In the second inning, the Bears connected on 4 home runs. After two innings, the Bears led 8 to 0. The Bears bats would go silent in the third inning, but they would regain their fire, in the fourth inning, when they would put up another crooked number. The Bears would score 6 more runs, in the fourth inning. Gavin Green was dealing on the mound for the Bears. He held the Cavs scoreless for the first three innings. Bossier Parish would finally get on the board, in the fourth inning, with 3 runs. The highlight of their inning was a two-run homer by a Breen. Blaine Hardy would pitch in relief for the Bears, in the fifth inning, and shutdown the Cavs to seal the 14 to 3 run rule victory.

Gavin Green earned the victory for the Bears. Gavin pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2 and walking 4. Blaine Hardy pitched an inning in relief for the Bears.

The Bears broke the schools single game record for homeruns.  The record was 4 versus Copiah Lincoln on 3/17/15. Today the Bears hit 5 homers.

 

Bears Game Highlights:

Nathan Carriere went 1 for 2 with 2 Runs, 1HR, and 3 RBIs.

William Veillon went 3 for 4 with 2 runs, 1 Double, 2 HR, and 4 RBIs 

Nathan Beyer went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI. 

Parker Autry went 1 for 4 with 1 Run, 1 HR and 2 RBIs 

Creed David went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs, 1 BB and 2 RBIs

Lane Hutchinson went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs and 1 HR.

Cody Crifasi went 1 for 1 with 2 Runs, 2 BB.

With the victory the Baton Rouge Bears improve to 14-13 on the season, while Bossier Parish Cavs falls to 7-11 on the season.

 

The Bears will conclude their Bossier road trip with a 4:15 pm first pitch versus the Centenary College JV Gents at BPCC field.
