Bears dominate Generals

The Baton Rouge Bears' bats came alive, while their pitchers were dominating on the mound as they would earn the 11 to 3 victory, this afternoon at Live Oak High School.

Sophomore Nathan Carriere would reach base on an error, steal second, steal third and score on a Gage Breithaupt for the Bears first run of the game.  In the second inning, the Bears would tact on two more runs.  Karius Joseph would reach after getting hit by a pitch and he would be driven in on a Parker Autry infield single. Autry would score on a Creed David single up the middle.  After two inning, Baton Rouge led LSUA 3 to 0.  William Dunn would be crafty on the base paths, in the third inning, to score another run.  After three ,the Bears led 4 to 0. The Bears would add another run in the fourth and another run in the fifth to take a commanding 6 to 0 lead. Hayden Sills and Luke Evans would hold the Generals scoreless in those five innings while allowing on 2 hits.

Baton Rouge would explode for 5 runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a Karius Joseph two-run homer to left field.  After six the Bears were cruising with a 11 to 0 lead.  The LSUA Generals would finally get on the board with 3 runs ,in the seventh inning, but it was not enough as Hunter Dupuy and Braxton Gallet would shut the Generals down over the last two innings to preserve the victory.

Baton Rouge out hit LSUA 7 to 5 LSUA committed 5 errors compared to only 1 by Baton Rouge.

Hayden Sills started on the mound for the Bears and he earned the victory. Hayden pitched two scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 4 and walking 0. Brandon Noel took the loss for the LSUA Generals.  He pitched 2 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3.

With the victory the Bears improve to 7-7 on the season.

 

Bears Game Highlights:

Creed David went 1 for 3 with 2 Run, 1 BB and 1 RBI

Nathan Carriere went for 3 with 3 Runs and 4 stolen bases.

Jonas LeBourgeois went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs.

Deionte Norris went 2 for 2 with 2 Runs.

Karius Joseph went 2 for 3 with 2 Runs, 2 RBIs and 1 HR

Parker Autry went 1 for 2 with Run, 1 BB and 2 RBIs

 

 

Next up for the Bears will be a weekend series on Saturday and Sunday with the Wharton County Junior College Pioneers starting at 6 pm on Saturday at Corbett Park in Wharton, Texas
