Bears rally falls short

Baton Rouge Bears rally falls short as the San Jac Gators take game two of the weekend series by the final score of 7 to 4.

 

For the second straight game, San Jac would get on the board first with one run in the first inning. Baton Rouge would get their bats going, in the fourth, when they would score one run. Sophomore Nathan Carriere would single up the middle and score on William Dunn sac fly for the Bears first run. The Gators would respond, in the bottom of the fourth, with three runs. The Gators held a 4 to 1 lead after four innings.  The Bears would chip away at the Gators lead with another run, in the fifth.  Freshman Outfielder Nathan Beyer would walk, and score on Deionte Norris ground out to the second basemen.  After five innings, San Jac had a 4 to 2 lead. The Gators would add to their lead, in the sixth inning, when they would score three runs off five hits.  After six innings, the Gators lead the Bears 7 to 2.  The Bears would not go down without a fight as they would score two runs in the seventh, but it was not enough as the Gators would take game two of the weekend series 7 to 4. In the seventh, Sophomore Shortstop Cody Crifasi would single up the middle and score on a William Veillion single. Nathan Beyer would follow with a walk and would score on a Deionte Norris ground out.

 

Hunter Hollan earned the victory for the San Jac Gators.  Hunter pitched four innings allowing 1 run off 3 hits while striking out 4. Wesley Scott earned the save for the Gators pitching 2 innings allowing 2 runs off 2 hits while striking out 1. Sophomore Christopher Courville took the loss for Baton Rouge Bears. Chris pitched 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs off 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. Sophomore Dane Wise pitched 2.2 innings in relief for the Bears.

 

With the victory the Gators improve to 2-0 while the Bears fall to 0-2

Deionte Norris had 2 RBIs.

Nathan Carriere went 1 for 2 with 1 run.

William Dunn went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.

Cody Crifasi went 1 for 1 with 1 run.

Nathan Beyer had 2 Runs and 2 BB.
