Baton Rouge Community College has named Thomas Simoneaux, as the program's new baseball coach.

Coach Thomas Simoneaux will take over the helm of the Bears Baseball team, after long time Bears Head Coach LJ Dupuy retired, after last season. Simoneaux served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the 2019 Bears season after joining the staff in November.

We are excited to welcome Coach Simoneaux to our staff and we are looking forward for exciting things to happen this season with the ball club.

Coach Simoneaux , although young, as had experience at varies levels of baseball. At Trinidad State (NJCAA – DI), Simoneaux was the Trojans' hitting and infield coach and was responsible for running the teams offense. Before that, he spent two years as an Assistant Coach at West Monroe High School. During his time there, he helped lead the Rebels to a combined 58-21 record. In 2017, the Rebels were ranked #3 in the nation. They finished 38-3 after losing in the state championship game, snapping a 29 game win streak. In 2016, Simoneaux was an Assistant Coach at Texas A&M University Kingsville, an NCAA Division II program in the Lone Star Conference. The Javelinas went 35-19 that year with an appearance in the DII South Central Regional Tournament. At each school, Simoneaux's main responsibilities were coaching the infielders and hitters. He also spent time coaching a number of 16-18 year-old summer ball teams each summer.

Simoneaux began his collegiate career at UL Lafayette where he red-shirted and spent two years as an infielder for the Ragin' Cajuns. Following that he transferred to Louisiana Tech and played second base and some third base for the Bulldogs. Simoneaux holds the Conference USA record for sacrifice bunts (18) in a season. He hit .238 in his career with 6 doubles and 1 home run. He was a First Team All-State Shortstop for the Ruston High School Bearcats his senior year.

Simoneaux graduated from Louisiana Tech in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Kinesiology-Sports Administration in 2017 from Texas A&M University Kingsville. His father, Wade, is a former college coach (UL-Lafayette and Louisiana Tech University) and current head coach at West Monroe High School. His mother, Bridget Henderson, is a life-long educator and administrator.  She is currently an administrator at Episcopal School of Baton Rouge.
