Bears and Wolves in a Slugfest

The Baton Rouge Bears dug themselves in a hole early but clawed their way back into the game but it was not enough to defeat the Co-Lin Wolves, as they fall 21 to 20, this evening at Pete Goldsby Field.

Co-Lin Wolves would get on the board first with a run, in the second.  The Bears would respond with two runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 2 to 1 lead. William Garrett Smith would single and score on a sac fly by Cade Boudreaux for the Bears first run of the game. Kendall Kennedy would double to left field and score on a Jordin Labruzza infield single for the bears second run. In the third inning, the Wolves would take advantage of some inconsistent pitching by the Bears to score sixteen runs to take a commanding 17 to 2 lead. Baton Rouge would begin to claw their way back in the game, in the fourth inning,  when they would score five runs. Kendall Kennedy would single, followed by back to back walks by Cade Boudreaux and Jordin Labruzza to load the bases. Donavon Murray was also walked scoring Kennedy. Cameron Guitreau would reach on an error scoring Boudreaux and Labruzza. Murray would score on a Cameron Crawford sac fly. Finally, Guitreau would score on a Bo Barrilleaux single to left field.  After four, the Bears trailed the Wolves 17 to 7. In the fifth innings, Co-Lin would tact on two more runs to make it 18 to 7. On the brink of losing the game and going home early, the Bears rally began in full force, in the sixth inning, when they plated nine runs to cut the Wolves lead to 18 to 16. The Bears battered around in the inning.  Some highlights of the inning include a triple by Thomas Garber scoring three, a single by William Veillon scoring two and a three run homerun by Cameron Crawford into the trees in left field.

Col-Lin would respond with two runs in the seventh to take a 21 to 16 lead.  The Bears did not quit as they would score one run in the eighth via a home run by Thomas Garber.  In the ninth, the Bears had their chances to walk off with the victory but they would be denied.  Luis Marmolejos would double scoring Cody Crifasi, who was hit by a pitch. Marmolejos would score when Cameron Guitreau would reach on an error. Cameron Crawford would single to right field scoring William Veillon, who reached on an error by the centerfielder.  Kyle Pitre would give the ball a ride to centerfield but it was caught for the last out thus ending the Bears rally.  Bears lose the slugfest 21 to 20 to the Co-Lin Wolves.

 

Jordy Adams started the game for the Bears. Cooper Strong, Braxton Dufrene, Salvador Lusco, Jacob Cyr,Dana Wise, Trevor Benoit, Christopher Sagrera and Tanner Young all pitched in relief for the Bears. Cameron Hill started the game for the Wolves. He went three innings allowing zero runs on zero hits while striking out two.

William Garrett Smith went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Cameron Crawford went 4 for 6 with 2 Runs and 5 RBIs (including homer to left field)

Donavon Murray went 1 for 1 with 1 Run, 1 BB and 1 RBI

Bo Barrilleaux went 1 for 2 with 1BB and 1 RBI

Thomas Garber went 2 for 3 with 2 Runs and 4 RBIs( including a homer off the score board)

Mitchel Lemoine went 2 for 3

Cade Boudreaux had 1 Run, 1 BB and 1 RBI

Kendall Kennedy went 2 for 4 with 1BB and 3 Runs

Jordin Labruzza went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs, 2 BB and 1 RBI

Luis Marmolejos went 1 for 1 with 1 Run and 1RBI

William Veillon went 2 for 3 with 2 Runs, 1BB and 2 RBIs

 

 

The Bears will return to action this weekend when they begin their three game series with the LSUE Bengals.  First game will be Friday night at 6 pm at Bengals Stadium in Eunice, Saturday's game will be at Pete Goldsby Field at 6 pm then the Bears return to Eunice on Sunday for at 3 pm match up with the Bengals.
