Baton Rouge, LA

LSUE Bengals sweep the three game series with the Baton Rouge Bears, this evening with a 7 to 2 victory.

For the third straight game it was a pretty even contest for the first three innings of the game.  Both pitchers had their stuff working and kept the other team scoreless.  The Bengals would break loose for two runs, in the fourth, and two runs, in the fifth, to take a 4-0 lead.  The Bears would break through, in the sixth inning, with two runs. The Bears would load the bases when Cody Crifasi would reach on an error and Matthew Eskew and Cameron Crawford would both draw a walk. Cameron Guitreau would then single to the pitcher scoring Crifasi. Matthew Eskew would later score on a pass ball for the Bears second run of the game.  After six, the Bears trailed 4 to 2.  LSUE would add to their lead with two runs, in the eighth, and one run, in the ninth, to take the 7 to 2 victory.

Baton Rouge was out hit 6 to 4 by LSUE.  Again, the Bears were getting runners on the bases but they were missing out on that timely hit to score some runs.  Baton Rouge committed four errors compared to two by the Bengals.

T. Booth earned the victory for the LSUE Bengals.  He pitched six innings allowing two runs on two hits while striking out seven. Christopher Courville got the loss for Baton Rouge.  Chris pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing four runs on four hits while striking out four. Brett Fisackerly and Trevor Benoit pitched in relief for the Bears.
