LSUE Bengals take game two 10-0 over the Bears

Sunday March 17, 2019: Baseball

Baton Rouge, LA

The series may have switched to Baton Rouge but the result was still the same as the #1 LSUE Bengals defeat the Baton Rouge Bears, this afternoon, 10 to 0; in seven innings.

It was a pitcher duel for the first three innings, with neither team able to scratch across a run.  The Bengals broke through, in the fifth inning, for four runs.  They would add two runs in the fifth, one, in the sixth and three, in the seventh to take the 10 to 0 run rule victory over the Bears. Baton Rouge did get runners on base but they were missing the timely hits to help score those runners.

A couple positive notes from this game was the Bears pitching staff limited the amount of walks they would allow (4) and they had some spectacular defensive plays that got them out of innings. Baton Rouge was outhit 9 to 6 by the Bengals.  The Bears committed three errors compared to 1 by the Bengals.

D. Dixon pitched a complete game shutout to earn the victory for the Bengals.  He pitched seven innings allowing zero runs on six hits while striking out seven. Evan Becnel got the loss for the Bears.  Evan pitched five innings allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out two.  Tristin Cosby and Tanner Young both pitched in relief for the Bears.

Bears Game Highlights:

Cameron Crawford went 1 for 3

William Veillon went 2 for 3

Thomas Garber went 1 for 3

Mitchel Lemoine went 1 for 3

Cody Crifasi went 1 for 2

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow, March 18 with the conclusion of the LSUE series.  First pitch is set for 6 pm at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge.
