Bears shutout Dakota State

Baton Rouge shut out Dakota State for a 11-0 victory this evening at Pete Goldsby Field. The Bears used a huge first inning to take a lead that the Trojans could not rebound from.  Baton Rouge would score a run in four straight innings to secure the run rule victory.

Baton Rouge would score six runs, in the first inning, with two outs.  It would begin when William Veillon would single and score on a Samuel Jarrell single. Jarrell would later score on a Luis Marmolejos single. Cody Crifasi would reach on a Trojan's error scoring two runs. Crifasi and Mundy would score on a Cade Boudreaux single to the second basemen. After one, the Bears led 6 to 0. In the second, the Bears would add a run to their lead on a homer  by Cameron Crawford. In the third, Thomas Garber would reach base by being hit by a pitch and would score on a double by Cody Crifasi. Crifasi would score on a line out by Cameron Guitreau. After three, the Bears led 9 to 0. Bear's pitcher Evan Becnel was cruising through the Trojans line up.  Midway through the fourth, Bencel had sat down 11 straight batters.  In the fourth, the no hit bid was broken up with a single by M. Weichel. Baton Rouge would add two more runs in the fourth to seal the 11 to 0 victory.

Evan Becnel got the victory for the Bears.  Evan pitched a complete game, five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits.  Steven Suarez got the loss for the Trojans.  He pitched two innings allowing seven runs on six hits.

Baton Rouge outhit Dakota State 8 to 3. Dakotat State committed five errors in the game.

Cameron Crawford went 1 for 3 with 1RBI- homer in the second

William Veillon went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 1 BB

Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Luis Marmolejos went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs and 1 RBI

Thomas Garber went 1 for 2 with 2runs

Cody Crifasi went 2 for 3 with 2 Runs and 1 RBI

Cade Boudreaux went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs

 

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow March 9 versus Mississippi Gulf Coast in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm at Pete Goldsby Field.
