Bears rally was not enough to defeat the Bulldogs

Baton Rouge Bears rally late to tie the game but a South Suburban Bulldog ninth inning rally led them to the 12 to 10 victory this evening. 

 

It was a one sided ball game for the first four innings of tonight's contest with South Suburban scoring 8 runs in the first four frames while shutting down the Bears offense. In the fifth, the Bulldogs added a run in the top of the frame to extend their lead to 9 to 0. The Bears' bats finally game alive, in the fifth, when they scored four runs to close the gap to 9 to 4.

 

In the fifth, the Bears took advantage of the struggling Bulldogs pitching and got some timely hits to score their four runs. Cameron Guitreau led off the inning with a walk and he would score on a William Veillon double.  Samuel Jarrell would walk and later score on a wild pitch. Bo Barrilleaux would single driving in Will.  Luis Marmolejos would ground out but Bo Barrilleaux would score on the play to cap off the Bears four run inning. 

 

South Suburban would add a run, in the sixth, to extend their lead to 10 to 4. The Bears would respond, in the sixth, with a run of their own. In the sixth, Luke Lancon and William Veillon would draw back to back walks and Samuel Jarrell would hit a sac fly driving in Lancon.

 

Baton Rouge would score another run, in the seventh, to bring the game closer at 10 to 6. Kendall Kennedy would generate his own offense as he would single to left field, then steal second, then steal third and score on a wild pitch for the Bears run.

 

 The Bears would tie the game, in the eighth inning, with four runs. Cameron Guitreau and William Veillon would start the inning with back to back walks. Samuel Jarrell would also draw a walk to load the bases. Luis Marmolejos would double driving in two runs. Cody Crifasi would single scoring Luis to tie the game at 10.

The Bulldogs would respond and score two runs in the ninth to take a 12 to 10 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, the Bears would go down in order thus losing 12 to 10 to the South Suburban Bulldogs tonight at Lamar University.

 

South Suburban out hit Baton Rouge 12 to 10, while each team committed two errors.

Samuel Jarrell went 0 for 1 with2 Runs, 1 RBI and 3 BB

Luis Marmolejos went 1 for 4 with 1 Run, 1 BB and 4 RBIs

Bo Barrilleaux went 1 for 4 with 1 Run, 1 BB and 1 RBI

Kendall Kennedy went 3 for 5 with 1 Run

Cody Crifasi went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI

 

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow Friday March 8 as they will face  Hinds Community College at 12 pm and Dakota State at 6 pm at Pete Goldsby Field.
