St. Louis Defeats Baton Rouge 6 to 4

A late scoring run by St. Louis lifts them to a 6 to 4 victory, this afternoon, over the Baton Rouge Bears.

The St. Louis Archers would score first with a run in the first.  The Bears would respond with two runs, in the bottom of the first, to take a 2 to 1 lead.  Luke Lancon would start the inning with a single to center field and he would score on a homer to left field by Cameron Crawford. The Archers would tie the game at two with a run, in the top of the second inning.  Baton Rouge would retake the lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Kendall Kennedy, who walked, and advanced to third on a Archers pitcher's throwing error would score on a fielder's choice. The Archers would again tie the game at 3 with one run, in the top of the fifth.  The Bears would answer again to retake the lead at 4 to 3 on a Bo Barrilleaux homer to left field to lead off the fifth inning.  The Archers would take the lead for good, in the sixth, with two runs. St. Louis would add an insurance run, in the ninth, to seal the 6 to 4 victory over the Bears.  

St. Louis would take two of three games over Baton Rouge this weekend.

Baton Rouge out hit St. Louis 8 to 6 but they committed 7 errors in the game.

 

Bears Highlights:

Luke Lancon went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Cameron Crawford went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 3 RBIs

Bo Barrilleaux went 2 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI

William Veillon went 2 for 4

Kendall Kennedy went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 BB

Evan Becnel pitched five innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits.

 

The Bears will conclude the weekend with a game under the lights at Pete Goldsby Field, tonight at 6 pm versus the Pearl River Wildcats.

The Bears will be back in action this Wednesday February 20 as they travel to play Hinds Community College in a doubleheader starting at 2 pm at Joe. G. Moss Field in Raymond, Mississippi.
