Bears Picthers earn shutout victory over Laredo

The Baton Rouge Bears opened the tournament of champions this morning versus the Laredo Palominos.  The Bears were able to put all phases of the game together to come out with a 4 to 0 shutout victory. The Bears' pitchers held Laredo to only two hits on the day, while striking out three.  Meanwhile, the Bears hitters struck for eight hits and four runs.

The Bears opened their scoring with three runs, in the second inning. Bo Barrilleaux, who walked, would score when Cade Boudreaux was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Laredo would walk Donavon Murray to score Kolby Blanchard, who reached base by also being hit by a pitch. Cameron Crawford would single to left field driving in Cody Crifasi, who was walked.

The Bears would tact on their final run of the game, in the third inning.  Samuel Jarrell would lead off with a single, Cameron Guitreau would also single to move Sam over and Sam would score on a Kolby Blanchard single to left field.  After three innings, Baton Rouge would lead 4 to 0 and that would be all they would need as Brett Fisackerly and Christopher Courville pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball.

Brett Fisackerly earned the victory for Baton Rouge.  He pitched six innings, allowing zero runs on two hits while striking out two.  Christopher Courville would earn the save for BRCC.  He pitched one inning in relief.

Justin Mora took the loss for Laredo.  He pitched five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, while striking out two.

Baton Rouge outhit Laredo 8 to 2 but they did commit three errors.

Bears Higghlights:

Donavon Murray went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1 BB

Cameron Crawford went 1 for 3 with 1BB and 1RBI

Samuel Jarrell went 2 for 4 with 1 run

Kolby Blanchard went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1RBI

Brett Fisackerly pitched 6 innings, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, with 2 strikeouts

Christopher Courville pitched 1 inning, allowing 0 runs, on 0 hits, while striking out 1.

 

The Bears will play later this evening versus Grayson College at Lamar University.
