Baton Rouge is shutout by Delgado

Sunday April 22, 2018: Baseball

Baton Rouge, LA

It was Déjà vu but this time Baton Rouge came out on the wrong side.  Delgado Dolphins shutout BRCC Bears 6 to 0, this afternoon at Pete Goldsby Field.  With the win, the best of seven series is tied at one game a piece.  Dolphins pitchers' Chris Turpin and M. Mayfield combined to throw nine innings of scoreless baseball, allowing only 10 hits while striking out 3. BRCC did managed 10 hits, in the game, but was missing the timely hit with runners on the bases.

Delgado got on the board first, with a two run homer run to right field by R. Scelfo, off Bears starting pitcher Joseph Battaglia III.  They would add three more runs to their lead in the fifth and another run in the eighth to take game one 6 to 0.

Joseph Battaglia III took the loss for the Bears pitching four innings, allowing six hits and two runs.  Brooks Southall and Michael Russell would come out of the pen to pitch two innings and three innings respectfully.

Chris Turpin earned the victory for Delgado pitching seven innings, allowing no runs on nine hits.
