Baton Rouge came out aggressive at the plate, on the mound and in the field to take game one versus Delgado; 6 to 0. Evan Becnel and Brandon Morris  combined to shutout the Dolphins. BRCC would get on the board with three runs, in the fourth inning. Hunter David would open the inning with a single and he would score when Garrett Barrilleaux tripled to centerfield. Jonah Overland would reach on an error, scoring Barrilleaux from third. Overland would then score on a ground out by Joseph Schopp. The Bears would strike again for three more runs in the eighth innings. Hunter David would open the frame with a double to left field and  Sam Jarrell would single to place runners at the corners.  Garrett Barrilleaux would hit another triple driving in David and Jarrell. Barrilleaux would score on a sac fly by Jonah Overland.

Baton Rouge had some outstanding defensive play. They turned four inning ending double plays. Joseph Schopp put on a clinic at shortstop today for the Bears.

The Bears also dominated on the mound. Evan Becnel picked up the win for the Bears. He pitched seven innings of shutout baseball allowing only five hits while striking out two. Brandon Morris came out of the pen to pitch two innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed three hits while striking out three.

Cole Martin took the loss for Delgado. He pitched seven innings allowing 3 Runs on 6 hits while striking out 7.

Bears Highlights:

Hunter David went 2 for 4 with 2 Runs

Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Garrett Barrilleaux went 2 for 4 with 2 Runs and 3 RBIs 

Jonah Overland went 0-3 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs

Joseph Schopp went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI 

Bears will continue the series with the Dolphins tomorrow April 22 at Pete Goldsby Field. Game time is set for 3 pm. The winner of this seven game series will represent region 23 in the regional round of the playoffs.
