LSUE shuts out Baton Rouge

In the final game of this home and home series, the  Bears watched the game slip away early and was unable to recover.  For the second straight game, in this series, the Bengals used two big innings to defeat the Bears 11 to 0 in seven innings. 

The Bengals scored 5 runs in the first and 4 runs in the second to take a commanding 9 to 0 lead.  LSUE would score another run in the fourth and added an insurance run in the seventh.  Baton Rouge only had 6 hits compared to LSUE 11.  BRCC also committed 3 errors on the day. LSUE was very aggressive on the bases, stealing seven.

Michael Russell took the loss for the Bears pitching 1 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and striking out 1. J. Taylor was the winning pitcher for the Bengals pitching 4 innings allowing 0 runs on 4 hits and striking out 2.

One bright spot for BRCC was the pitching performance by Vincent Laurent out of the bullpen.  Vincent pitched four innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7.

Seth Daugherty went 2 for 3

Hunter David went 1 for 3

Jonah Overland went 1 for 3

Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 2

Vincent Laurent came in out of the bullpen to pitch four innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 7.

 

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow March 20 in a doubleheader versus Pearl River Community College.  Game times are 3 & 6 pm at Pete Goldsby Field.
