Bears Comeback Falls Short versus Co-Lin

Bears put up a fight Sunday night but Co-Lin Wolves grabbed the victory 10 to 8. BRCC would get on the board in the first inning with three runs.  Kolby Blanchard singled to left field, Garrett Barrilleaux doubled to right field and were both driven in by a Cameron Crawford triple to centerfield.  Crawford would later score on a Troy Banks single.  After one inning BRCC held a 3 to 0 lead over the Wolves.  Co-Lin would tie the game in the second with three runs. Wolves would score four runs in the third to take a 7 to 3 lead over the Bears.  Bears added one one. in fifth inning, but still trailed 7 to 4.  Wolves would add 2 runs in the top of the sixth to extend their lead to 9 to 4.  The comeback rally would start in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Bears scored four runs to close the gap to 9 to 8. Co-Lin would play a bit of small ball, in the top of the seventh, to manufacture an insurance run.   Bears threatened in the bottom of the seventh with two runners on but a strike out ended the Bears night. Final score was Copiah Lincoln 10 and Baton Rouge 8.

BRCC out hit Co-Lin 17 to 11.

Jordan Bowden got the win for Copiah-Lincoln while Evan Becnel took the loss for the Bears.

Bears Highlights:

Kolby Blanchard went 5 for 5 with 2 runs 

Garrett Barrilleaux went 3 for 5 with 2 runs

Lee Whitaker went 2 for 4 with 1 run and 1RBI

Cameron Crawford went 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 4 RBIs

Troy Banks went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI

 

The Bears will be back in action this Wednesday February 21 when they take on Bossier at 12 pm and Jones County at 6 pm at Pete Goldsby Field.
