Bears finally figure out a way to win at Pete Goldsby Field Sunday afternoon versus St. Louis Archers. BRCC won 15 to 7.   The Bears were led by a solid pitching performance by red shirt Freshman Michael Russell. Russell would pitch six strong innings for the Bears allowing only 4 runs on 9 hits while striking out 7 Archers. 

The Archers would score first with a run in the second inning.  The Bears would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. It all started when Cameron Crawford singled to center field and advanced to second on a  pass ball.  Joseph Schopp would get on base by being hit by pitch and Seth Daugherty  walks to load the bases with Bears.  Kolby Blanchard would reach on an error, in the process, scoring Crawford and Schopp. The Bears would take a  2-1 lead after two innings.  The Archers would tie the game at two with a run in the third innings. BRCC bats would wake up with a fiery, in the third inning, as they scored 5 runs in the frame. The Bears would duplicate the third inning, in the fourth inning,with five more runs to break the game open.  After four innings, the Bears held a 12 to 4 lead over the Archers.  St. Louis would close the gap in the seventh with three runs but BRCC would respond with three runs of their own in the eighth innings.  

Each team had 16 hits on the day. The Bears overcame their four errors to earn the first home victory of the season.

 Michael Russell got the win for the Bears while Matt Blake took the loss for St. Louis .

Seth Daugherty went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs, 1 RBI and 2 BB

Kolby Blanchard went 3 for 6 with 1 Run and 4 RBIs

Garrett Barrilleaux went 2 for 6 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Keith Meier went 2 for 5 with 1 Run, 1 RBI and 1 BB

Cameron Crawford  went 2 for 4 with 3 Runs

Evan Vickers went 1 for 5 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs

Joseph Schopp went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs

 

The Bears will conclude today, with a nightcap game, versus the Co- Lin Wolves at 6 pm.
