Bears Lose Twin Bill at Jones County

Bears baseball traveled to Jones County Junior College on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader against the Bobcats.

BRCC lost the first game 4-2, followed by a 7-4 loss in the night cap.

In game one, Dillen Miller started on the mound for Baton Rouge. He pitched well in his six-inning outing. Miller gave up four hits and three earned run, while striking out three and walking one.

Troy Whitty came in to finish the game for BRCC, allowing no runs on one hit in a two inning stint.

BRCC could not muster enough offense to help Miller. At the plate, the Bears managed only five hits. Tyler Laporte led the way finishing 2 for 4 (two singles), with two RBI.

Mossy Mueller, Nicholas Cucci and Aidan Hodges each had a single in the game.

Game two was a different story at the plate. BRCC outhit the home team with nine base knocks, only allowing six hits to the Bobcats. Unfortunately, the hits did not produce enough runs to keep pace.

Melvin Frazier took the loss for Baton Rouge. Frazier pitched four innings, giving up six runs on five hits. He struck out four batters and allowed one walk in the outing.

BRCC scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, but could add any more runs until the sixth inning. Seth Daugherty scored from second when Tyler Laporte singled in the first inning.

Daugherty was the only Bear to have multiple hits. He finished 2 for 4 and scored a run.

Aidan Hodges went 1 for 1 with an RBI.

Joseph Domingue managed the only extra base hit for the Bears on the day. He went 1 for 1, with a triple and a RBI.

BRCC hits the road to compete in the 2017 Rush Invitational this weekend. The Bears will face Wallace State Community College-Hanceville, Tyler Junior College and East Central Community College.
