BRCC Find Themselves Down 0-2

In the midst of a seven game series vs Delgado Community College, the Bears are facing an 0-2 deficit. This weekend may have produced two distinctly different games, in the end Baton Rouge is facing an uphill battle if they want to host the South Central District in mid-May.

Game one ended with the Dolphins winning a 13-10 score-fest. Baton Rouge twice saw leads slip away due to errors and free passes. Leading 5-3 in the fourth inning, Delgado plated four runs to jump back on top. The runs came off of two walks, a wild pitch, two singles and a throwing error. The Bears found themselves down 7-5.

BRCC bounced back to regain control by posting five total runs in the 6th and 7th innings. Baton Rouge led 10-7 heading to the Delgado half of the seventh.

The lead would not hold up. The Dolphins exploded for six runs in the inning and would go on the secure the game one victory.

The wind came out of BRCC sails that inning, but the Bears hoped to bounce back on Sunday, at home, in game two.

After scoring ten runs and pounding fourteen hits on Saturday, Baton Rouge could not find a rhythm at the plate on Sunday. Following a scoreless first inning, Delgado jumped on BRCC with eleven runs over the next four innings. Meanwhile, Baton Rouge could only muster one hit and one run ending the game in five innings with a 11-1 defeat.

The two teams will meet again this weekend for games three and four of the series. Game three will be at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium at 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. Game four will be back at Pete Goldsby Field on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

BRCC is scheduled to meet Galveston College on Tuesday evening. The game is being played in Vinton, LA and is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
