Baton Rouge bounced back from a Tuesday defeat by posting five runs in the first inning en route to a 11-1 victory over Delgado. The victory evens the Region XXIII Series at 1-1.
The big inning began when lead-off hitter, Devin Bailey, was hit by a pitch. Nicholas Morgan followed up the free pass with a single to right. Layton Laird then reached first base due to a Dolphin throwing error, which also allowed Bailey to score the games first run.
Morgan would score on a ground out to make the score 2-0. Mark Traylor would then add two more to the score with a home run to right field. BRCC wasn't done yet, they would add another run in the first inning to take an early 5-0 lead.
The game was ended after five innings due to the ten-run mercy rule.
Baton Rouge (21-23-1) will travel to Delgado (27-11) for game three on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 3:00 pm from Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
