Baton Rouge and Meridian were planning on playing two-seven inning games on Friday afternoon. A two hour rain delay and 12 innings later BRCC fell to the Eagles 7-4 in the first game of a three-game series. 

BRCC got on the board early with a run in the first inning. Darren Bueche, who singled earlier in the inning, scored from second base off a single to right field from Zachary Zimmer. The Bears led 1-0 after the first.

Baton Rouge added to the lead in the second after three singles from Nicolas Gobert, Ridge Buisson and Cade Milazzo. Milazzo was caught in a run down for the final out of the inning, but not before Gobert was able to get across the plate. After two innings, BRCC led 2-0.

The Bears added two more in the third inning to take a four run lead. Darren Bueche, Benjamin McGrew and Nicolas Gobert all hit singles in the inning to give BRCC a 4-0 lead.

As the fourth inning began, the Bears bats went cold.

Meridian cut into the lead in the 6th inning when they plated three runs. John Schaffer, the Bears starter, pitched 5.1 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits. 

Meridian was able to tie the score in the top of the 7th inning and the marathon game was just beginning. Both teams were held scoreless until the 12th inning when Meridian scored three runs to take a 7-4 lead. 

BRCC's first batter in the bottom half faced three pitches before the game was delayed due to lighting.

Two hours later the Bears threatened to tie the game, but Meridian was able to hold off the rally. The two coaches decided to postpone the second game of the day until Saturday and play the doubleheader beginning at noon. The action will begin with a 9-inning game, followed by a 7-inning contest.
