BRCC struggled to hit the ball on Wednesday, recording five hits and one run during the doubleheader versus East Central Community College. The Bears lack of offensive production played a major factor in the two losses.

In game one, Thomas Neef threw a complete game for Baton Rouge. The freshman right-hander held East Central to five hits over the course of nine innings, but the Warriors were able to push four runs across the plate, in large part due to four errors committed by the Bears. Baton Rouge scattered five hits, but was unable to provide any run support for Neef. BRCC lost the game 4-0.

Offensive production did not materialize in game two. The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Bears managed their first run of the afternoon, without recording a hit. Corey Free scored from third base on a wild pitch. He maneuvered his way around the bases off a walk, error on a fielder's choice, another walk and finally the wild pitch when the bases were loaded. The one run is all the Bears could muster.

ECCC tied the game 1-1 in the top half of the sixth inning before putting the game away in the seventh. The Warriors added five runs in the final inning to secure a 6-1 victory. 

Next up for the baseball team is a weekend series vs Delgado Community College. The #2 ranked Dolphins bring a 25-4 record to Pete Goldsby Field for the Miss-Lou showdown. The teams will play two 7-inning games on Saturday afternoon; followed by a nine inning game on Sunday. Action on both days begins at 1:00 pm.
