Bears Get Two Road Wins

Baton Rouge Community College won two road games on Wednesday versus Copiah-Lincoln. The teams were scheduled to play two-seven inning games; however, it took 8 innings for the Bears to win game one by a score of 9-8. Game two was a high scoring affair BRCC was able to win 17-14.

The Bears found themselves in a hole early, giving up four runs to the Wolves in the first inning of game one. BRCC battled back to tie the game in the fourth inning.

BRCC scored 9 runs off of twelve hits and three errors from the Wolves. Benjamin McGrew connceted on three hits for the Bears, while Cameron Burns and Mark Traylor Jr. each had two hits.

John Fralick earned the win for BRCC. He pitched two innings of relief, giving up two hits and one run in the outing.

The bats stayed hot for the Bears in game two. Baton Rouge jumped on the Wolves early by scoring nine runs in the first inning. Similiar to game one, Copiah-Lincoln did not go away quietly. The Wolves had a few big innings of their own, soring 13 runs combined in innings three through five. BRCC found themselves trailing 14-9 heading into the sixth inning.  

BRCC added one run in the sixth and seven runs in the final inning to secure the victory. BRCC scored 17 runs on fifteen hits, while capitalizing on five Co-Lin errors.

After over a month on the road, BRCC will be back at Pete Goldsby Field this weekend when they host Copiah-Lincoln and St. Louis Community College on Saturday. Sunday will be a three-team round roubin with St. Louis CC and Southwest Mississippi CC.
