Bears Drop Doubleheader to Ponies

Bears Drop Doubleheader to Ponies

BRCC lost both games of a doubleheader today to Panola College. The first game was 11-4, while the second game ended 22-5.

The Bears got on the board first in game one with a two-run double by Nick Gobert in the second inning. After four innings of play, the lead had been extended to 4-1, but nothing else seem to go the Bears way the rest of the afternoon.

Panola answered with three runs in the 5th to tie the game at four. Then added two more runs in the sixth to take the lead they would not relinquish. Meanwhile, BRCC would not score another run and Panola managed to get eleven runs across the plate. Game one ended with a Bears defeat by a score of 11-4.

Game two became lopsided early. Panola used an eight run second inning to take a 9-0 lead. The Bears were able to score two for themselves in the bottom half, but 9-2 is the closest they would come. BRCC did not score another run until the 9th inning when they added three more. Panola scored 22 runs on 14 hits, including two grand slams during game two.

The 0-3 start is not what the Bears were hoping for, but there is little time to dwell on this weekend series. The Bears are back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they host Bishop State for a doubleheader at Pete Goldsby.
