Bears selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA Basketball Academy

The Baton Rouge Bears have three student athletes and one coach selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA Basketball Academy this July. The Academy is designed to give the the prospective student athletes a sample of the college basketball experience. The prospective students athletes will participate in tournament play and life skills courses. The NCAA is partnering with USA Basketball to organize and administer the Team Pathway and offer at large bid invitations. The Academy is July 23-July 25 for the men and July27-July 29 for the women. The event will take place at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center in Rock Hill South Carolina. The student athletes were selected because they were rising NJCAA Sophomores.
Those selected are J'Nyria Kelly a sophomore forward on the Lady Basketball's team and Laron Louis Jr, a Sophomore Guard and Courtney McCarthy a Sophomore Small Forward from the Bears Basketball's team.
Bears Head Coach Byron Starks will be coaching one of the teams through USA Basketball and the NCAA Basketball Academy.
