The Athletic Department staff got together to nominate student athletes to be recognized for the first annual Red and White Awards. Each staff member voted for an athlete in five different categories and a committee selected the winners based on their academic and on field performances.
The winners are:
Male Athlete of the Year: Keith Meier Sophomore Left handed Pitcher for the Bears Baseball Team
Female Athlete of the Year: Celica Sterling Sophomore guard on the Women's Basketball Team
Male Student Athlete of the Year: Makye Richard Freshmen Guard on the Men's Basketball Team
Female Student Athlete of the Year: Sara Tate Freshman Outfielder for the Lady Bears Softball Team
Male Newcomer of the Year: Kolby Blanchard Freshman 2B/ Outfielder for the Bears Baseball Team
Female Newcomer of the Year: Kayla Watson Freshman Guard on the Women's Basketball Team
Male Comeback Athlete of the Year: Jibreel Ahmad Sophomore Guard on the Men's Basketball Team
Female Comeback Athlete of the Year: Heather Gardnern Sophomore Outfielder for the Lady Bears Softball Team
Moment of the Year: Garrett Barrilleaux grand slam walk off home run in game five of the Delgado Series to win the game 7 to 6 in the bottom of the ninth.
Team of the Year: Men's Basketball
